D’Addario NS Micro Violin and Viola Tuner

The NS Micro Violin Tuner features an easy-to-read, multi-color display and visual metronome in an attractive compact design. A non-marring, lever-lock clamp holds the tuner securely to the instrument while allowing easy application and removal. The precision violin tuner is not only perfect for tuning, the unique mounting system and fast pitch response allow it to be used as an effective practice tool for referencing and improving intonation while playing.

I already own a Matrix Clip On Chromatic Tuner MA-8001 which is a good tuner, but has the drawback of not easily mounting to my violin. The D’Addario NS Micro Violin and Viola Tuner clamps right onto the body of my violin, is readily available, is not in the way when I am practicing, and does not have to be removed when putting my violin back in the case.

The clamping system has rubber where it meets the violin body so there is no fear of marring my violin. It was very easy to fit it onto my instrument, and it can come off easily if I want to remove it. A built-in piezo transducer picks up instrument’s vibration rather than sound. The tri-color reversible backlit LCD screen makes it easy to tune in dark environments, and it has a wide calibration range (410Hz to 480Hz) and visual metronome.

I am very pleased with my D’Addario NS Micro Tuner, and haven’t used my Matrix Tuner since buying this one. I will keep my Matrix as a backup or give it away to someone who needs a tuner. Fiddlershop sells the D’Addario NS Micro Tuner for $14.99 and shipping is free if your entire order is $25 or more. Since I didn’t need anything else at the time, I purchased it on Amazon for the same price and got free delivery with my Prime account.

Here is a video from the Fiddlershop and another from D’Addario, so you can see the D’Addario NS Micro Tuner in action.
