Been using Band-in-a-Box since a guitarist told me about this software. It's great for creating backup tracks.  I'll make up a new track for each new piece I work on.  Yes, you can find backing tracks online, if it's a lesser known song, you're out of luck.

With the software you can set the music style, key, speed and the chords to a song. Or just a set of chords to vamp to. You can set the number of repeats. Then export it as an mp3 or wav file. And you can download a chord list to ho along with it.

It's great to have all the backup banjos, guitars, mandos and basses ready for my next practice session!

Looks like it would be handy, especially if you can't find backup tracks for a particular song.

Backing tracks beat playing to a metronome!  And you learn how to jump back in if something didn't work right. Closest thing to a real jam situation.

I agree. I hate playing to a metronome.
