Bile ’em Cabbage Down

After writing the post, Voice Recorder Pro, in which I talked about how I was going to begin recording my fiddle playing for practice feedback and to keep so I can hear my progress as I learn more, I decided to create this repository of my recordings. This is my first.

“Boil Them Cabbage Down” (also “Bile ‘Em Cabbage Down”) is an American folk song. Hoecakes are small cornmeal cakes that were baked over a fire on the blade of a hoe. A breakfast of hoecakes and cabbage soup testifies to the humble origins of this song. (Wikipedia)

This is my very basic version of Bile ’em Cabbage Down.

Recorded January 17, 2019

If you are not familiar with Bile ’em Cabbage Down, here’s how it sounds when a real good fiddler plays it.

And, here’s a fun version from The Andy Griffith Show, with the words, but without a fiddle!
